Born in Hong Kong and raised in Tokyo, Kaye Freeman received her

Dip Ed and BA from TAFE NSW Australia and Victoria University,

Victoria Australia. Freeman is primarily and painter but also has a

performative aspect to her work and makes short films. In 2016

Freeman moved to the US on an O1 visa for gifted artists.

 

She has exhibited her work internationally in galleries and museums in 

Los Angeles, Alabama, Georgia, Chicago, Bonn, UK, Tokyo, Sydney

and Melbourne Australia. Recent Solos shows include, 2022 Cosmic

Freeman has exhibited in groups shows on a regular basis since

moving to LA. She also has developed collaborative networks with

many local artists including WOLF which was part of NOMAD in

Torrence last year and Hibiscus TV, a Youtube channel she shares

with performance artist Amy Kaps. She has had a book of art and

poetry published with Oakland based poet Natasha Dennerstein called

Turn and Face the Strange. Earlier this year Freeman appeared as

part of Ladies Lair Lake by Trulee Hall shown at NOMAD LA and

Lifes: All Fours created by Nina Bier and bob kill curated by Aram Moshayedi

at the Hammer Museum LA. In 2021 two of her short films, WOOD

and Shiosai were screened as part of the Comeback Festival at Art Share LA.

 

She was honored recently to be included in the LA county Artist roster.

Freeman is now a permanent resident with a green card.

She lives and works in downtown Los Angles.
